In the context of Surrealism, "accidentally" can be defined as the occurrence or creation of something unexpected, unplanned, or unintended, which reveals deeper, unconscious truths or meanings. Surrealists have often embraced accidents as a means of accessing the irrational or subconscious mind, allowing these chance events to influence their art and ideas, often resulting in works that defy conventional logic or reality. In this sense, accidents in Surrealism are not seen as mistakes but as valuable occurrences that can lead to new insights or artistic expressions.
In line with the Surrealist embrace of the accidental, my artistic approach similarly values spontaneity and the unexpected. Through my portfolio, I uncover the hidden layers of meaning in the ordinary, much like how Surrealists used techniques like automatism to bypass rational thought and reveal deeper truths. By embracing these "accidental" moments, my work seeks to highlight the beauty and significance in what is often overlooked, inviting viewers to engage with the world around them in a more reflective and conscious way.
